WCIW diy -window decoration-

you will need:
- different colors of washitape
-scissors

-if you like a pencil and some green paper for the grass
to make a round shape i've used three pieces
of washi tape and placed them over each other

to make the flowerleafs you will also need three pieces of
washi tape and you will place them next to each other
with a little overleap so that they will be attached to eachother
cut out the shape of the leaf of a flower
if you don't really have a steady hand just draw the shape
on the washi tape with a pencil and cut it out
you're flower is done...
for the leafs you will need two larger pieces of flowertape
and place them next to each other with a overleap
cut out the shape of a leaf

I also made two little clouds with a few raindrops :o)

And now the fun begins, you can start edding them to your
window and make a cute display!

Butterfly and grass:
I used green paper for the grass and secured it on the
window with some washitape on the back. To make the
butterfly stick i also used a little washitape by folding it double ;)
Cute right :o)
Have fun making your own washitape display :o)

The making of the book 'my milk toof'

So much fun to watch little making of movies like these ♥ I made a double blogpost today, because i won't be blogging the rest of this weekend. I'm taking a little time for myself, spending time with my two boys, do some reading, crafting and go to a scrapworkshop with my sweet friend Karin. The weather is changin' like really turning to warm temperatures, so maybe time to use the BBQ again (doing a little dance over here ye ye!). What are your plans this weekend? XO. Vera

ps this book is available at the webshop eennieuwavontuur

WCIW DIY -make your own jar lantern-

This is a post that i made a year ago over at the birdsofafeathergirls, but never placed it here. I just adore jars that are being used as lanterns. I'm still dreaming about a tree in my garden filled with lantern jars that light up so pretty in the dark.... sigh**

DIY -make your own jar lantern-
You will need:
❀ a jar
❀ wire
❀ buttons/scrapbookflowers
❀ scissors
❀ jewelry pliers

1. Wash your jar and sook the label off. Cut a piece of wire long enough to twist around the rim and secure it firmly.
2.Select the buttons you want to use & pull the wire through. If they have shanks, give the wire a little twist at the back to keep the buttons in place.
3. Wrap the line with flowers around the neck of the jar and fasten the wire by making several twists.
4. I used the wire to make a handle, but you can also use a new piece of wire. Twist the wire and hold it in place securely and then twist it on the other sideand your done!
5. If you like you can also paint the glass with special paint (i did make a few blue flowers).

Other ideas to use your jar for:
❀ as storage for your collections like shells, seastars etc
❀ use them as a wrapping for a gift
❀ make your own jam or put candy in it
❀ use it as a vase(hanger)

just a little extra inspiration from weheartit

And are you going to make one of your own?

Why creativity is so important to the future

If you would like to watch this video with Dutch subtitles look here

A total different blogpost then your normally use to read over here, but one that i do like to share. I have been a teacher for 9 years and having a wonderful baby boy isn't the only reason that i've quit my job as a teacher. For years i've been 'fighting' the system and really having trouble with the killing of creativity at schools and my own! I normally won't share much of these stories but really some of them stayed with me, so i would share a few.

For years i've teached children from the age of 9 until 11 or 12 and was really shocked about their creativity level. A lot of children really believe that they can't draw or craft and that it's useless, a few examples:

- After crafting something pretty, the children could take it home and one of them left it at school. He said to me: 'There is now need in taking it with me because at home my mom throughs it away anyway!
- Working on a India project (that i combined with History lessons) i let the them write their own name in Hindi, i would never forget the look on the boys face he was so proud! When he showed it to his mom in the afternoon, she didn't even look and said: 'So what did you do today?' I never forget that look on his face either....
-frequently i let them draw 'free' and when i started that at the beginning of the year they just looked at me, like what?! Can i draw everything that i like? Yes. Really? Yes, really! Lot's of them really struggled with that.
- i had a 'angry' mother who didn't understand why her child had to stay a little longer at school to finish his drawing and she said:' If it was for language or mathematics it was okay'. I answered that by saying that drawing is a subject too!

I have read stories of kids with dyslexia filled with imagination, children who totally changed while dancing or making music and a child that has ADHD and other problems sat at a play where they played classical music with tears in his eyes!

I always had drawers filled in my classroom with papers and other crafting supplies. i did a little yoga with them, little meditations by using fairytales and i stimulated coloring mandala's. Sometimes i started off with coloring mandala's while relaxed music played at the background (their concentration level really upgraded!). Despite of the fact that people found it kinda strange, (most of) the children loved it!

I wanted to share this because creativity is a big part of who i am & i really lost it for many many years (but it didn't seem this way to the outside world!) . I'm certain that there are people out there that feel the same way i do & maybe you have kids or are a teacher and noticed this. Just embrace creativity and let children develop instead of putting them in 'boxes' like ADHD, PPD, ADD etc.... listen to your heart instead of your mind!

Love,
Vera

WCIW DIY -feather flipflops-

WCIW? Yep it stands for weekly craft inspiration Wednesday and that's a long post title, so i made it a little shorter ;) For this Wednesday i have a great summer diy! I had 'boring' black flipflops in my closet and i wanted to have flipflops with feathers, so another DIY was born.

DIY -feather flipflops-
You will need:
flipflops, feathers and a hotglue gun

☀i started on the right sight of the flipflop and worked my way till the middle
☀i first placed the feathers on and made a selection off the colors that i wanted to use
☀i added a little glue and lightly pressed the feather on (be careful because the glue is hot!!!)
☀ if you like you can use the back of a pen to press instead of your finger
☀you will end in the middle & then start from the leftside up and end again in the middle

 And tada!!!!

happy with my feather flipflops ❤

XO. Vera

ps if you like these and have made a pair of your own,
i would love to see them!
