derriere la porte

Yesterday i went to the fabric market with Karin. Not only did we get cute fabric, we also bought some cute ribbon and ehhh some clothes xD We had a delicious salad for lunch and about 4 o'clock we went home. It was such a great day! Today i'm doing some crochet and writing down ideas that are floating in my mind. This has been the case for a while now, but i haven't been able to really make all the ideas! These few weeks have been busy and this week will be also. I have to work 2 more days and then i'm done. In my mind i know i made the decision to quit working as a schoolteacher, but it hasn't reached me completely if you know what i mean. A lot of things are the same as always, so i think it will all sink in when everybody is starting again and i don't have to. Yesterday i bought a can from 'Derriere la porte'. I already had 1.... but i'm really so in love with them that i think i'm gonna collect them! See for yourself

it all started with this cute one!

i would love this one for all my sewing stuff

cute right?!
Have a lovely sunday!

Thinking inside my box

image found on weheartit

Hi :) I really did some thinkin' inside of my own box (read head) lately and i've decided to quit working as a schoolteacher! I've been working as a teacher for 9 years now and i keep bumpin against the same walls. I've tried a lot from the beginning until now and i've really had times that i went to work crying and feelin' nauseous (this was about 4 years ago). I'm glad that i started working parttime and that we had a switch of management at our school. But even if you work parttime, you really make your hours. I work on monday and tuesday and in reality that means that i have an 10 hour working day, usually without a break.... and the tasks keep piling up!! It's sort of a never ending story :( In the mean time i discovered my creative side again, followed a course and became a childrens yoga teacher :) All things that really make me smile inside, something that i don't have working at school anymore. So it's time for a new step in my life and see where the path takes me.... XO.

DIY -make your own dreamcatcher-

Such a cute project to make yourself or to make with your kids on a rainy afternoon :) If your child has problems sleeping you should defenitely make one together! If you're planning on doing this DIY with your kids i would recommend to do so with kids that are about 9 years old. It also depends on the craft level of your child, if you know what i mean ;) Coming thursday i have planned to do a DIY project for smaller kids over at the birdsblog. The childeren can make the dreamcatcher themselves with a few easy steps and save material.

For the DIY of today you will need:
-wire
-yarn
-beads
-feathers

Use your wire to make a round shape and cut
off what you don't need. Wrap the yarn around.

Once your circle is ready wrap your yarn
around like this. Make a knot in the beginnin' and
go round. I used a different color, but if you like
it otherwise.. just do so!

After one round you go further the same way
as you did only now you pull your yarn
through the already made loops.
And so you will make many rounds...
If you run out of yarn just make a knot on the end
and go on. If you like to add beads decide where you
want them and just pull the yarn through (they will stay put)

Make sure you don't leave your yarn just 'hanging'
it has to be tight! Once you have reached the centre
pull your yarn tight and make a knot in the middle.

And then it looks like this ;)
Cut some pieces of yarn and tie
them on the bottem. Select the feather you
would like to use and make a knot so that
they are

and tada!!!

Hang your dreamcatcher anywhere
you like!

I hope you liked it!

I also found this great page
with a description of how to make
dreamcatchers, look here
If you still have questions, just ask!

Soooo goooo to work & have fun xD

One pink day

I'm waking up in my pink house..

After breakfast it's time to put my laundry in
this beautiful pink washingmachine from Smek

While the washingmachine is doing his work,
it's time for some cleaning, redecorating &
reorganising etc...
(beautiful basket from Rice)

(beautiful basket from colorique)

After lunch i will get on my pink bike to get some
beautiful pink tullips...

& get some groceries..
Time for some tea & strawberries..

and a pink glace cake, yummie!

Time for some gardening!

Gardening makes me hungry,
so it's time to make some dinner!

After dinner it's time for some crafting,
reading or watching television.
And then it's time to turn off this pretty pink light
from Tord Boontje & go to sleep....

i ♥ strawberries

where is the strawberry?
Ohh it's on my head :P

Just a little inspiration post today all about
STRAWBERRIES!

i just love love love eating strawberries!
The best time ever was when we were
at Terschelling and really could pick the
strawberries right from the land. You grabbed
your own tray and went out in to the field..
filling your own tray with organic strawberries!

While i was making this post it made me hungry!
So i'm going to make some pancakes for dinner and
i will end with a strawberry one ;)

Love,
Vera
