Make your own xmas 'ribbon'

Hello, we meet again :)
I was feelin' sick for the last 4 days, but
today i feel better... I am going to work tomorrow, but i will have
to take it 'slow' (or else i will be sick again).

Idea 3 make your own 'ribbon'
I wanted to share some more Xmas handmade things to
make at home. I think most of you don't have to leave
the house to buy these things, just open a drawer ;)
I used pompoms, (thin) tread, needle, punches and some paper leftovers.
For the punches i used these ones: snowflake, christmas tree (2 different ones),
round, star and a heart. You can use any kind of paper, unless it's to thick.

Punch, punch and punch :p
Then use your tread and needle and make your own 'ribbon'.

You can sew them close together or leave a little space between them.
If you like ,you can add pompoms, beads, feathers etc.

made this myself

found this image on toni's blog

Use them to wrap your gift, hang them on the wall, on your window
or even in your Christmastree.
You can make very long ones or short ones.
Have fun!

Idea 4 Make your own snowflakes

1. fold the paper in half, and again... look at nr 1
2 fold the paper like this and go on until you can't anymore
3 then it looks like this
4 cut slantwise (like a little bag for French fries)
5 draw this figure on your paper (stay a little from the sides)
6. cut it out and fold it open.. ta da your own snowflake!
You can hang them on your window and make little and big ones.
You can add them to gifts, paper, your scrapbook etc

A few things to share...

i followed the autumn online class.
i wanted to keep these ideas.. so i printed them all.
they now have a place in this ringbinder, that i decorated :)

I knitted these little bows and going to sell them
in the childerens' shop :)

Enough blogging for today for me! Going to read my book
(Sarah's key) and have a big mug with tea!
Have a great Sunday! XO.

Idea 2 using old Xmas cards

Hi!
A few weeks ago i started with idea 1 'Make you own Xmas wrappaper' If you missed that look here.

Idea 2 using your old Xmas cards
Every year you buy, make or get lots of Christmas cards. Usually they are so pretty and i just can't throw them away. So there they are.. just lying in my cupboard or drawer for years.
I decided to get them out of there and using them!

First of all i am going to recycle this year! In other words i am going look up my old Xmas cards mix them up & send them again :) You can also do that if you like! I mean the cards are still pretty & it's the gesture that counts. Either way, i have some great (and simple) ideas for you how to use your old cards again! Here we go..

  1. Make a lantern with you old Xmas cards (see post below how). You can use a longdrinkglass or a little glass with candle and just put the lantern over it.
  2. Make a (tree) hanger! I used this sweet card with a fawn. I chose to keep it round and with a stappler i added some ribbon to it. I think the round option is the best lookin' (just like a Xmas ball).
  3. Make a mosaic. I cut the card in little pieces and with some glue i added them on a black little card. You can use the card as a new Xmas card, a gift card or anything you like :)
  4. Scrapbook! I can write a long story here and show you many examples, but what fun is that?! Create your own & have fun!
  5. Cut the front of the card in 4 pieces and make little holes in them. Just add some cute ribbon and there you have sweet giftcards. You can also use pieces to make new Xmas cards (also the pieces Merry Christmas & a happy new year).
  6. Instead of 1 Christmas card, i now have 6 little (gift) cards.
  7. I framed my sweetest Xmas cards :)
Hope you liked this post & these ideas!
Hope to see what you made :)
XOXO

Make your own (moustache) lanterns

hai everyone :)
Yesterday i made lanterns. It's very easy.. i will show you!
Use the pattern below and draw this on your paper. You can make any size you like.
Just draw a bigger or smaller pattern :)

Cut it out & then fold it double the way it is lying now.

With your siccors you cut a straight line from the bottum till the line.
If you don't have a steady hand, just draw the lines!
I drew the line for you in this example, but you can draw a decorative line or when you make a few you probably don't need to draw one anymore ;)

Fold it out and then glue it together on the bottom and top.. TA DA!

The moustaches i used you can find here
I used paper from the printer, some Love Elsie paper and some old Xmas cards!
Hope you like it! If you finish yours let me know :D
XO.

Xmas inspiration

I love love love Xmas. The funny thing is that my husband doesn't. Where i want to go over the top with decorations, he wants it just a little. I dream about xmas lights on the side of the stairs, outside in the trees, little hangers with candles in the trees etc. I love it when only the xmas lights & candles in the house are on/burning and nothing more :)

I know i just want a little bit to much (as usual). We do hang up xmaslights, we buy a tree, decorate it & of course decorate outside.... I'm thinkin' to use my turquoise xmas things again and combine this with silver. The last two years i enjoyed my purple/white and silver combination, time for something new! Every year i look in to magazines and books and fall in love with a complete white xmas house... But once i start my Christmas decoration it's all full of colours again :)

colorful :)

A little while ago i asked if anyone was interested in making Xmas gifts, paper etc. I didn't get any response, but made my blogpiece anyway ;) I have a few ideas, i will run them by you!
Ideas:
  • making giftboxes/giftbags
  • make your own 'ribbon'
  • using your old Christmas cards
  • making giftcards
Which one would you like the most? Let me know & leave a comment :) xoxo

Amazing forts..

I found this poem and loved it so that i wanted to share it with you..

Home

Home is the place your heart resides
Home is the place that you decide
Home is the womb that holds the soul
Home is the place where one is whole

Home is the glow you hold in your eye
Home is the emotion that makes you cry
Home is safe and a place of peace
Home is where all strivings cease

Home is protective against the others
Home is full of sisters and brothers
Home is where you find your rest
Home is where you feel your best

Home is a memory that follows your being
Home is a dream for those agreeing
Home is the place where reserves fall
Home is the place you yearn to call

Home is where the family meets
Home is a place of restful retreats
Home is the place you know you’ll be heard
Home is the pace where nothing blurs

Home is all these wonderful things
Home is the place you develop wings
Home is the place that you’ll find one day
Home is the place where your heart will stay

Sinterklaas

Sinterklaas with his big book (compare it with the nice & naughty list)

Sinterklaas & Pieten (his helpers)

In the Netherlands we celebrate Sinterklaas, each year. A sort of Dutch Santa, who rides on a white hourse. He has no elfs but zwarte pieten (black people.. they used to be white but going to the chimney again and again made them black).

When you are small you get gifts & when you get older you draw lots. You make a suprise for someone within a gift to find & also a rhyme (usually with little jokes in it). In november he always arrives from Spain with his steamboat & he leaves at 6 december and we celebrate giftnight the day before at 5 december. Sooo a lot of (little) gifts, story's, surprises, singing and eating candy :D

A little history
In the fourth century after Chr. Saint Nicholas the bisshop off Myra (Turkey). The legend says he saved his village or else they would have starved till dead. He died at 6 december in 343.

Some pictures

i made this as a surprise (under the brown paper was a litle present)
